Places to Visit: Mioposto

When stay-at-home advisories and quarantines began earlier in the year, I had no idea how long lasting the impact may be. And I know I wasn’t alone. Days turned into nights, weeks into months. Those months were filled with at-home cooking, a little takeout, and even some drive-thru meals.

It turns out I went over two months without dining at a restaurant. A very small price to pay, and I’m glad I’ve been responsible this year to keep myself and others healthy. But for the occasional “night out” that feels nothing like the familiar—yet seems overwhelmingly comforting—patio dining, extra cleanliness standards, and facial coverings save the day.

Mioposto on Mercer Island was the first restaurant I ate at since the lockdown began. Arriving minutes after open was smart, as I was able to feel out the new normal everyone was talking about and cope with my anxieties in a relatively low-key situation.

Long story short, the experience was incredible. The server and staff were attentive (from a distance) and the food was amazing. I’ve been back two more times to a couple other locations. It feels nice to be supporting local restaurants again. Never take that for granted. Much appreciation goes out to the places like Mioposto helping their communities through tricky circumstances—cheers!

Mioposto has four locations in the Seattle area: Mount Baker, Ravenna, West Seattle, and Mercer Island. Check out their menu here and find a spot near you. And take a look below for some of my favorite dishes I’ve gotten at Mioposto recently.

Antipasti

Definitely get this if you want to stimulate your appetite and try a little bit of everything. From salty and savory to fruity and sweet, this board has quite the variety. My favorite part was the warm rosemary bread, spread with goat cheese and tapenade.

Brunch

The first meal I ever had at Mioposto was brunch, and it sure didn’t disappoint. With an extensive menu, there’s plenty of options. I highly recommend the eggs baked in tomato sauce (aptly named The Baker) or the spicy Breakfast Pizza.

Happy Hour

The most important meal of the day, right? Find personal pizzas, a wide selection of cocktails and house wines, and more on this menu. It may be one of Seattle’s best happy hours.
