Dalgona Coffee
Whipped coffee; coffee foam; quarantine coffee; TikTok coffee hack. You’ve probably come across this since it went viral earlier this year. But dalgona coffee is a creamy, frothy way to whip up your daily cup. It has roots in East Asia, named after a golden sponge toffee, and has made its way around the world through social media.
When we started creating this episode of Starbucks at Home, I really didn’t prepare myself for how many times I’d have to whisk this stuff by hand just to get the right take. It truly is a workout. Pro-tip: absolutely use an electric mixer to make it easier and fluffier.
Heads up, this recipe is modified from what you’ve likely seen circulating elsewhere (for that version, check my Instagram Highlights).
Start with two ingredients:
2 Tbsp (or 2 packets) Starbucks Iced VIA
2 Tbsp water
Whisk, whisk, whisk! For at least 5 minutes, until the color looks like peanut butter and the consistency is silky smooth.
Finish this beverage off in a tall glass filled with ice. Add in your favorite milk or dairy alternative, and even a splash of vanilla extract or other syrup. Just be careful not to add too much; the whipped topping will be sweet on its own.
And just like that, you’ve got quite the treat.
